For the Facebook project my guy was FDR. President Roosevelt was a very important President and got elected three times. FDR signed many important acts and made the decision to go into WWII. Overall he is a very important historical figure.

I think Francisco Franco was important because he was the dictator of Spain. He also had very important topics on him like that he was the youngest captain in the army when he was 16. Another very interesting thing is that he was fighting for a dictatorship. Also he had friends that were popular like Adolf hitler, Bennito Mussolini etc =. This is why i think Francisco Franco is important

John Dillinger was included on the list because in the 20's there were a lot of gangs and gangster. Dillinger was a well known gangster and had the best gang with another famous gangster named Baby Face Nelson. Dillinger also escaped prison more than once, and sent Chicago in a state of worry. I think Dillinger was important because he represented a whole other side of the 1920's not just the happy times. He represented the gangs and the danger that happened in those times.

For the Facebook project, I had Calvin Coolidge. I believe that he was an important historical figure because when he was in office, he tried his hardest to make everyone equal. He strongly believed in equality and tried to make sure no one is discriminated against by trying to stop the KKK. Even though he thought that everyone should be equal, he actually took action on it and tried to make it possible. That is why I believe that he is an important historical figure.

For the project, I had F. Scott Fitzgerald. He was the author of the Great Gatsby, which was a very popular book in the 20's onward, and it is still famous today. On many of the other Facebook projects, people put their favorite books as The Great Gatsby. Fitzgerald also embraced the lifestyle associated with the roaring twenties. He was an alcoholic and he had a very lavish lifestyle. He was also known for having large parties. His literature had a major influence on American culture during the twenties as well. Fitzgerald was also one of the nations most promising writers during the twenties, becoming a success almost overnight when he published his first novel. These are the reasons that I believe F. Scott Fitzgerald was on the list of important people in the 1920's.

For the Facebook project i had Charles Lindbergh. He was an important and popular figure during that time period. "The Crime of the Century" had to deal with the abduction of Lindbergh's baby. It was such a big deal based on how famous he was and his popularity. Overall Charles Lindbergh is such an important figure and brought flying to a whole new level.

For my Facebook project I did F. Scott Fitzgerald. I think he is on the list because influenced American culture with his writing of the great Gatsby. His writing influenced how Americans pictured American wealth.

My historical figure was FDR. He was elected three times and passed many acts that helped the great depression. He also made the decision to get us into WW1. and is regularly considered one of America's greatest presidents by historians. All of this, and also battling through polio and other diseases!

My person was Henry Ford. In some way he was connected to other people's assigned historical figure. Woodrow Wilson asked Henry Ford to be a senator. Hitler and Ford were friends. The list goes on and on. Ford also changed the world of factories and the assembly line. He made the first affordable car.

My historical facebook project was on John Scopes. He was most known for the Monkey Trial in the 1920's. The Monkey Trial revolved around the illegal teaching of evolution. John Scopes was the person that was accused of teaching it even though he didn't. John believed in evolution but never taught it. This was big in Tennessee and that is why John Scopes made the list of important people.

I believe that FDR was on that list because he was one of Americas greatest leaders. He was the president of the U.S. during WWII. Roosevelt did not want to get the U.S. involved in the war but after the attack on Perl Harbor by the Japanese it was time to clear up the war. He also soon got us out and changed the course of history forever. Something else he did was created minimum wage, social security and more. That is way I think FDR is on the list.

I believe that Andrew W. Mellon was on the list for important Historical figures because throughout his life not only was he extreamlely successful, becoming one of the wealthiest men in the country, with his families bank, and the companies he and Henry Frick founded, but he also is one of the prime reasons that the 1920s were "roaring." while serving 11 years as treasurer melon lowered the war debt from $26billion to about $17billion and lowered income tax rates. no one was particularly poor because of this, in addition he encouraged/help come up with the idea of credit. Sadly that was also part of the reason he was blamed partially for the great depression.

I think that Benito Mussolini was included on the list because of the impact he had on the Italian Society in the 1930s. Mussolini had enough power to overthrow and take control of the government. He also introduced fascism and rebuilt the Italian government. Mussolini had alliances with other powerful dictators in the world at the time, like Adolf Hitler and Francisco Franco. Mussolini and the Italians also had enough military power to take over Ethiopia and the fall of Madrid.

For the project I was assigned Henry Ford. I believe he was put on the list because of his ideas for the future. He changed the face of factories and assembly lines for good. He was also responsible for selling the first affordable car. This was a huge deal in the 1920's as cars were seen as a luxury. Also, Ford was well known and connected with many other figures, such as Adolph Hitler and Thomas Edison. He was an extremely important man and impacted the American Society in many ways.

I think that Josef V. Stalin was put on the list because he was a very powerful dictator who ruled the USSR for over 30 years. He was known for the millions of innocent civilians whom he persecuted when they expressed their opinions about politics. He is also remembered for his 5 year plan which was established to industrialize the USSR and to turn it into a military superpower.

My person for this Facebook project was Marcus Garvey. I think that Marcus Garvey is an important person because he was a hero to the Jamaican society. He wanted the black race to go from minority to majority.

Woodrow Wilson was included on the list for the Historical Figure Facebook Project most likely because he was an interesting and essential piece of the 1920s and The Great War. His role in the establishment of the League of Nations was key to construct a peaceful bond throughout the world. He also was a member of the Ku Klux Klan, which made him quite a fascinating person to research.

Anonymous said...

For the Facebook project I had Adolf HItler. I think he was a very important figure in history, although he was viewed as a terrible man, when you research him, you could see all the reasons he killed all those people. However, before the holocaust, he actually wasn't that bad of a man if you look at things from his perspective. I think that Adolf Hitler was put on the list of important Historical Figures in the 1920's, because he was just starting to gain power. Also, he was put there to see what one of the most horrible man in history's life was like before he did all those terrible things. That is why i believe that he was put on the list of important historical figures in the 1920's.

For the Facebook project, I had Francisco Franco. I think Franco was important during the 1920's because he the youngest general to ever lead a Spanish army at age 34. He also fought for a dictatorship in Spain. Later he had become the dictator of Spain. Some of his friends were Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler who were also very important historical figures during the 1920's.

Anonymous said...

For the project I was assigned Henry Ford. I believe Henry Ford is an important historical figure due to the fact that he created the car assembly line and revolutionized factories. He may have been successful but Henry Ford was really important because of the assembly line.

For the Facebook project my guy was Calvin Coolidge. i think he was a very important figure because he was not only the president and the vice president for the united stated he was also the governor for massachusetts. Calvin was also very important because he was the first president to have his inauguration heard on the radio, it was broadcasted by 5 radio stations and about 5 million people were listening. He was also the first president to make a radio broadcast.

Alice Paul was my historical facebook character. If you know who she is you would understand why she was put on this list. She was a powerful and important women's rights activist who dedicated most of her life to the cause of women's rights

Anonymous said...

My Facebook project was on Warren Harding. I think he is important because he was the 29th president of the US. His election was the first which women could vote in. Harding's campaign slogan was a "return to normalcy" after war which people trusted. He died during his presidency, which causes some major scandals to come out. Overall, Warren Harding was an important part of the 1920's.

I believe Joseph Stalin was included on the list of important figures because he was a dictator during that time period. He killed many innocent civilians who he believed would threaten his rule in a time called the Great Purge. Joseph tried to rule the the world with a government party called communism, which was a totalitarian form of government. He was also the ruler of the Soviet Union (USSR) during World War II, which we will be studying soon. He was a dictator who took over the government and killed many people.

Duke Ellington was who I had to research. He played a major role in the music industry. He also was a very religious man. He made the list because he impacted not only jazz and gospel music but, also the African American community. Because he was so popular, he was able to be known around the world and was able to help stop racism. Duke Ellington helped create a better idea of African Americans and created some killer jazz songs.

Anonymous said...

My historical figure, for my Facebook project was Alice Paul. Alice Paul was important enough to be on the list because during the 20's Paul revolutionized women's rights. She made the 19 Amendment and through all her hard work she made the first equal rights Amendment. Without her movement nowadays women may not have the same rights they used to.

I did Marcus Garvey for my project and I ended up learning so much about him. I think he is definitely important because he was a huge part in the help to support African Americans. Although some of his methods were questionable he did so much to help African Americans in the 1920's. He founded UNIA and The Black Star Line and many other corporations too. Overall I enjoyed researching Marcus Garvey.

I think that Satchel Paige was on the list because he was arguably the best black player in MLB history. He is important enough to be on the list because he pushed through all of the people who said he couldn't make it because he was black. this was also a very hard time for African Americans in the US due to segregation.

Anonymous said...

Satchel Paige was on the list because he followed his dreams despite obstacles. Satchel grew up a trouble maker and was forced by his parents to go to a reform school. It was there where Satchel realized he wanted to play baseball. As Satchel grew up he applied to join the MLB, but was denied entry simply due to his race. Instead, he joined the Negro League of Baseball and became known as one of the best players in history. When Satchel was 42 he was finally granted entry into the MLB. In summary, Satchel didn't let discrimination get in the way of his dreams, he found other ways to accomplish them, while also becoming what he is now known as today, "the Babe Ruth of the Negro Leagues".

Herbert Hoover was on the list because not only was he president at the time, but because he was very important. In World War I, he helped save most of belgium from starvation. Also, when he was president, the stock market crashed on Black Thursday, causing the Great Depression. He was blamed, causing him to only serve one term and making him remembered as one of the worse presidents we have had throughout history.

Emperor Hirohito was on the list of names because he was the Emperor and the Supreme Dictator of Japan during world war II. Even though we do not know much about Hirohito due to the fact that he rarely appeared in public, he gave orders such as to use chemical gas against the Chinese. This made him and his cabinet very infamous. He accepted to belong in the Axis powers along with Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy. Lastly, Hirohito was important because he was the leader of Japan (who was thought to be the main enemy to the Americans) during WW2.

Anonymous said...

My Historical figure was on the list because Emperor Hirohito was a great monarch, the longest reigning monarch in Japan, and he was also a great person. Hirohito led Japan through WWII, became Japan's first democrat, created Japan's constitution, and he even focused on what he loved, marine biology.

Ellington's orchestra was the house band at the Cotton Club, and had a weekly, nationwide radio broadcast. Ellington also came onto the scene at the right time. Jazz was just beginning to spread across the United States thanks to records and travelling bands, and Ellington had already established himself as a serious jazz artist, so he could take advantage of the nationwide popularity.

Duke Ellington helped bring jazz out of its rather chaotic and disorganized beginnings into a new level of sophistication and organization. He was developing his distinctive style, and was popular with both black and white audiences. He used combinations of instruments, scales, and harmonies that were pretty mind-blowing for his time. He was really out on the cutting edge. His pieces really touched people and showed other jazz artists what you could do with jazz. He wrote many of jazz best-known standards, gave breaks to a lot of young upcoming musicians and was a very gifted and inspirational pianist.

I believe this is the reason why Duke Ellington was on the list.

My person was Herbert Hoover and I believe he was in the list because he was president during the end of the 20's. He was important because he signed some documents that helped rebuild the U.S (such as the Boulder Canyon Project act). Overall it was a good project.

My Historical Facebook was based on Albert Einstein. I believe that he was an important figure because he influenced the scientific world and, eventually, influenced the whole world by unintentionally becoming involved in the bombings of a Japan by discovering the overall idea of the atomic bomb. That is why he was on the list of important historical figures.

Anonymous said...

My historical figure was John Scopes. I think he was important because of the famous Monkey Trial. The Monkey Trial took place in 1925. He was being accused of teaching about Evolution. In Tennessee there was a very strict law not to teach about Evolution. Scopes did believe in evolution but denied ever teaching it. He ended up pleading guilty. His trial was also the first ever to be broadcasted live on the radio. That is why I think that John Scopes was on the list.

My historical figure was Emperor Hirohito. He is important enough to be on the list because he was the Emperor of Japan during WW2; a lot of people on the list were greatly affiliated with WW2. In a sense, he ended WW2 by surrendering after the bombings on Japan.

My historical figure was Andrew Mellon. Andrew Mellon played a huge role in the business and political aspect of the 1920's. Andrew was a well known business man who owned many companies including Alcoa and Gulf oil. Andrew also had very strong ties with Herbert Hoover as he served as the Secretary of Treasury for over 10 years. Andrew Mellon was also a very generous man and donated over $50 million to charities and museums. Overall Andrew Mellon was a very important and wealthy man. With his wealth peaking $350 million at the time of his retirement.

Woodrow Wilson was include on the list for many reasons. First of all, he was an American president that was in office during WWI which was a huge role that he managed with ease. Also, I believe he was on because he was an important figure in world peace which he tried to accomplish throughout out his presidency and which he later won the Nobel Peace Prize for. Final, he was on the list because of his amazing life accomplishments such as over coming dyslexia and becoming the president of Princeton. Overall, Woodrow Wilson deserved a spot on the list of people that change the world around the early 1900.

For the Facebook page I had Albert Einstein. He was included on the list because he was an important part of our history. Albert Einstein had invented the atomic bomb which played a huge part in WWII. He also answered the question "why is the sky blue?". Albert Einstein very much deserved a spot on this list due to his inventions and discoveries.

My historical figure was FDR. FDR was on the list because he was one of the greatest and most influential presidents ever. He turned the economy around after the great depression. He created many jobs for people who would have starved otherwise. Also, he made the decision to go into WWII.

Francisco Franco was included on the list of names for many reasons. He was a Spanish military leader who ruled as the dictator of Spain during the 1920s. During the Second World War, Franco maintained a policy of neutrality, although he did assist Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy in a small scale, most famously by sending troops to aid Nazi Germany in the occupation of Russia. These are the reasons why Francisco Franco was mentioned on the list of historical people from World War two.

John Dillinger was included on the list because in the 20's there were a lot of gangs back that day.Dillinger best known back then and also known to have the best gang with the help of other famous gangsters Pretty Boy Floyd, Baby Face Nelson and, Melvin Purvis. Dillinger also escaped prison more than once, stole many cars and guns and sent Chicago into a frenzy. I think Dillinger was important because he represented a different side of the 1920's that really wasn't seen. He represented the gangs and the danger that happened in those times.

For my project I was assigned Benito Mussolini. Mussolini definitely deserved to be on a list of importnat figures for that time. He was the dictator of fascist Italy and assisted Germany throughout the war. His actions and interventions were directly related to how World War 2 played out.

I did my project my person was John Scopes. He was very important and did a lot to help the education community. He got in trouble for teaching his students about evolution and the whole world shined a spotlight on him. Overall, he was a very important person and should be remembered as a guy who stood up for what he believed in.

My historical figure for the facebook project was Alice Paul. Alice Paul was a highly influential women who fought for women's rights. She was the reason women are allowed to vote. Similar to the hardships of Rosa Parks, Alice was thrown in jail for her protests but remained persistent. Even after she was beaten during a protest, she kept her ground. She never stopped fighting for what she believed in, without her presence, women may have never received the right to vote, which is why she is an important historical figure.

I do consider Albert Einstein important enough to be included in the list of historical Facebook figures. Albert Einstein is one of the most well known people because of his scientific studies and great discoveries throughout his life. Not only did Einstein have a major impact on our ammunition and explosives during World War II but he personally warned President Roosevelt that Germany was building an atomic bomb. Some of Einsteins great discoveries include why the sky is blue, general theory of relativity, the law of photoelectric effect, and E=mc2. Even during Einstein's last few years of his life he was dedicated to lecture universities on his theories. Einstein had a great contribution to our knowledge of physics and is extremely important to our history.

My historical figure was Babe Ruth. Babe Ruth was important because he was a very well known talented baseball player. Babe Ruth set many records and was given many titles. He was voted best baseball player of the 20th century by Sports Illustrated. He was also named best baseball player of all time by Sporting News. Through out his whole career Babe Ruth hit a total of 714 home runs. His batting average was .342. Overall Babe Ruth was a very accomplished baseball player.

For the Facebook project I had Adolf HItler. Hitler is a very important man in the world's history although he affected the history in a bad way. He was an important enough to make the list because he had a lot of power at the time and he was leading the German Nazi party. After his long stay at Vienna, he said that he had a very unpleasent and dreadful experience there which then made him hate the Jews.

I thought my figure, duke Ellington, was very important to America at the time because he brought so much happiness to people. During the 20's people were having a lot of fun before the depression and Duke Ellington was a big part of that fun. People would travel around America to watch him perform. He was a role model to so many Americans that were into jazz. Although so many events and so many people were famous at the time, it didn't effect Duke Ellington's fame.

My historical figure was Alice Paul. Alice Paul was very important and a major women's rights supporter along with her best friend Lucy Burns. They were thrown into jail many times and went on hunger strikes while in jail. Without Alice Paul or Lucy Burns would we still have women's rights today? Probably because of all the people in women's rights at the time but how much longer would it have changed?

Mussolini was one of the major men who started WWII along with Adolf Hitler and many others. He was a very important historical figure.

I think my person, Charles Lindbergh, was on the list because he was the first person to travel from New York to Paris in one flight. Not only that, so many inventions were being made and so many ground breaking records were also being made, that being one of most mind blowing acomplishments at that time. Learning about Charles Lindbergh is also a good lead in to World War Two, because he was a natzi simpithizer and had a very intersting and mishcevous peronality and life.

For my project, I got Benito Mussolini. He was very important because he was an extremely powerful dictator. He was a creator of fascism and lead a fascism group. He was one of the few people that started WWII. He was an important person in history.
